Overcoming Home-Visit Challenges:
A Standardised Process Replaces Complex Preparation

Home care workers travel across the community every day, encountering homes of every shape and size. Traditional bathing assistance often takes significant time to adapt to each environment and carry different tools, a major challenge for both physical stamina and time management. Switle BODY standardises the entire process:

A Practical Alternative Designed for Hong Kong’s Compact Living Spaces

“

Hong Kong has approximately 108,200 subdivided housing units, providing homes for a total of 215,700 people (about 214,200 excluding foreign domestic helpers). The median floor area of subdivided units is only 11 square metres, with a median per-capita living space of just 6 square metres (about 65 square feet).

— Census and Statistics Department, 2021 Population Census, “Thematic Report on Subdivided Units”

Inference · Not Statistical Data

For elderly residents living in subdivided units or older housing estates, bathroom space is often extremely limited. Lifting and bathing clients in such confined spaces is not only difficult but also raises the risk of accidents. Switle BODY moves the bathing process to the bedside, completely bypassing spatial constraints, a genuinely practical in-bed care solution.

Optimising Service Workflows to Meet Growing Demand for Ageing-in-Place Care

As demand for home care services rises sharply, service teams face mounting pressure with limited staffing. Using technology such as Switle BODY to simplify the most time-consuming part of a visit, bathing, can effectively shorten each home visit, allowing staff to serve more cases, or freeing up time for higher-value care such as rehabilitation exercises and social companionship.

Illustrative Scenario · Not an Actual Case

Suppose a home care worker must adjust their process and carry different aids to suit each home’s bathroom layout every time they assist a client with bathing; this step can take up a significant share of the total visit time. If it could instead be completed directly at the client’s bedside, the time needed per visit could be shortened, potentially allowing the same staffing level to serve more cases, or freeing up more time for existing cases to be spent on care, rehabilitation, or social companionship.

Frequently Asked Questions — Procurement / Fund Applications

Care workers visit multiple households daily — is 5.5kg too heavy to carry on home visits?

5.5kg is comparable to a small piece of carry-on luggage. We recommend pairing it with a dedicated trolley, letting care workers move around the community with ease and far less physical strain.

Can it still be used if a client’s home is extremely cramped?

Yes. The unit has a very small footprint and comes with an extra-long hose, so it can be placed at the foot of the bed or just outside the room, letting care workers complete the full bathing process even at a narrow bedside.

How much time does setup take on each home visit?

The unit is an all-in-one design requiring no complex assembly. On arrival, care workers simply add tap water, plug it in, and attach the brush head; the entire setup takes under 3 minutes.

Do consumables, such as the sponge head, need to be replaced on every visit?

For hygiene reasons, we strongly recommend assigning each client their own labelled cleansing head, ensuring home visits meet the highest hygiene standards.

How long does an Innovation and Technology Fund application usually take? Will you help us apply?

The approval timeline is determined by the Social Welfare Department. BNET-TECH products have been approved for multiple consecutive rounds, and we can quickly provide standard quotations and compliance documents to fully support your application.
